Rayon Sport 1-3 Azam

RAYON Sport’s search for a defensive midfielder could be over after the impressive display of Matembe Ndikumana Type during the blues’ 3-1 defeat against Azam at Amahoro Stadium.

The blues started well with new striker Tony Okello hitting the wood work on the eighth minute but Azam later dominated proceedings and there was little surprise when the Tanzanian club struck first blood when midfielder Ibrahim Maipopo put them ahead on the 44th minute.

The first half ended with the blues trailing 1-0 but new signings Sekamana Leandre, Cedric Amiss and Tony Okello were impressive while Ndikumana anchored the midfielder brilliantly much to the delight of the Rayon Sport faithful who turned up in big numbers.

Walab Yahaya and Anudu Nafiu added a goal each in the second half while Cedric Amiss pulled one back for the blues.

Nine out of the 11 players that started for the blues were either new signings or players on trial. Rayon sport will now play friendlies against Congolese sides Kabasa and Virunga this weekend.

The blues are still awaiting for players like Mbanza Hussien, Mike Serumaga, Abouba Sibomana, Faud Ndayisenga and Bokota Labama who are expected to join the club.
