Canadian-based Rwandan artiste Frank Joe, on Saturday night, entertained his worldwide legion of fans at Calgary’s Afrikadey Festival. 

The festival dubbed "Rhythms of Change” was celebrating its 20th anniversary and this year, it acknowledged the significant and lasting contributions of African ambassadors of change.

At the festival, held on beautiful Prince’s Island in the heart of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Frank Joe who was also the MC of the night performed his hit songs including ‘Nyegera’ before introducing Shadrack Kagabo, a.k.a Shad, another Rwandan rapper based in Canada.

The singer, real name Frank Rukundo, later introduced on stage Grammy-winning artiste Angelique Kidjo, who entertained the crowd with her famous hits, like "Agolo”, ”We We”, "Adouma”,  and "Wombo Lombo”

"The last 20 years have proved the adage, build it and they will come, with the slow and steady increase in support. For 20 years, Afrikadey! Is deeply rooted and well known in the Canadian arts and cultural community,” said artistic director Tunde Dawodu on the Afrikadey! Website.

Promoting positive growth within local and international communities, Afrikadey intends to construct new bridges between countries and cultures through music and dialogue. Conceived in 1991 as a concert with Fela Kuti, it became the first African festival in Western Canada.
