Drivers should be educated on the dangers of bribing traffic police officers. The Newtimes / File.

Editor,

I wish to commend the police for spearheading the campaign against corruption.  The recent move which saw five individuals arrested for attempting to bribe traffic officers, reflects the determination to fight corruption.

Rwanda’s zero tolerance  for corruption has almost become a societal norm.

Accepting bribes from drivers might lead to accidents and deaths as a result of driving faulty vehicles.

The association of public commuter operators, ATRACO, should continue to educate their drivers about traffic rules and the dangers of bribing traffic police officers.

By rejecting bribes, police officers are sending a clear signal to all Rwandans that once you violate the law, it will catch up with you.
