1st phase of Kizito Mihigo’s concerts end on a high note

The first phase of Kizito Mihigo’s concerts in secondary schools ended last week. The theme of the concerts was the role of art in education. Kizito again enchanted students throughout his performances. His vocal lines and natural expression evoked great empathy and admiration from the audiences.

The first phase of Kizito Mihigo’s concerts in secondary schools ended last week. The theme of the concerts was the role of art in education.

Kizito again enchanted students throughout his performances. His vocal lines and natural expression evoked great empathy and admiration from the audiences.

Speaking to The New Times, Kizito said the purpose of program was to hold concerts in all secondary schools of the country, with the message of memory conservation, forgiveness, reconciliation, human dignity, nonviolence and peace. 

The concerts were held at: Lycee Notre Dame de Citeaux, Lycée de Kigali –Kigali, Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare, Petit Seminaire Baptiste de Butare, Groupe Scolaire Notre Dame de la Providence de Karubanda, EAV Kabutare – Huye.

In Ngoma District, Kizito performed at Petit Seminaire St Kizito de Zaza, TTC Zaza, whist in Rubavu, he performed to students of College Inyemeramihigo, Petit Seminaire Nyundo, and 13 other schools.

Kizito’s performance at Lycée de Kigali attracted not only students but also parents and dignitaries, including Claver Gatabazi, an official from the National Commission for the Fight Against Genocide (CNLG).

 "The concept is in line with the activities of my foundation Kizito Mihigo for Peace – KMP,” Kizito remarked.  He added: "We are done with the first phase and the second one will commence when schools reopen.”

 "If we get support, we would also hold events in universities and prisons,” he added.

The "Inkunga y’ubuhanzi muburezi n’Uburere mboneragihugu” project was sponsored by the Ministry of Sports and Culture.
