CHARLES Mwesigye Tibingana and Andrew Buteera, who feature for Ugandan side Proline academy, are thrilled following their call-ups to the national senior side.

The Junior Wasps stars together with Marcel Nzarora and Emery Bayisenge have been included in a provisional 27-man squad by Sellas Tetteh, who is desperate to blood new talent and draw a line under a forgettable opening four games of the 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifying campaign.

Tibingana, who was an ever present figure on the right wing, during this year’s Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico said, "I am delighted to have been named in the Amavubi squad for the first time,” the 17-year-old said during a phone interview.

"It is a real honour and I’m looking forward to the experience. But I am also realistic and want to take things one step at a time.”

Buteera added, "This is another milestone in my life. It’s a welcome surprise. It is always an honour to play for my country at any level, but it is a special moment to be called up to the first-team squad.”

"To reach my full potential, it’s important that I keep on improving all aspects of my game, and this call-up will certainly be a great learning experience for me. I just want to make the most of every opportunity I am given to better my game.”

The qualifier between Rwanda and Ivory Coast is slated for September 3 in Kigali.

To qualify, Amavubi, who are drawn in Group H, need to finish second or among the best three qualifiers in the eleven groups.
