I was delighted to read, last week, that the Office of Prosecutor General had, after thorough investigations, sent to court cases involving officials who had mismanaged public funds as implicated in the Auditor General’s report.

We should stand firm and support the antigraft crusade to end this vice which hampers economic development.

It is very encouraging to read that several people who mismanaged public funds have been prosecuted already. Now that the list of people accused of mismanaging public funds is out, the judicial organs should quickly take the necessary action.

We don’t have room for corrupt officials in Rwanda. The Office of the Prosecutor General should be applauded for presenting a detailed report and for pointing out areas where irregularities were observed.

Previously, the AG’s office reported that billions of Francs were uncounted for, but the Prosecutor General’s report now shows some major improvement in management of public resources despite a few remaining irregularities.

Our country’s good governance and zero tolerance to corruption are definitely some of the key ingredients for development. However, there is still need to apply more stringent policies and procedures in fighting graft.
