On Wednesday, March 15, Rwanda Energy Basketball Group (REG) Basketball Club became the first team to reach the 2023 Basketball Africa League Playoffs to be played in Kigali in May.
The team put up great performances, winning all the three matches it played.
Here, Times Sport takes a look at the top performers for the Rwandan club during the past few games.
Adonis Filer
The American-Rwandan point guard proved to be a key asset for REG with his ball distribution, court vision, leadership and shooting. In the three games, so far, he scored 40 points and contributed 12 rebounds.
Cleveland Thomas
Shooting guard Cleveland Thomas Jr also played a major role in REG&039;s success. The soft-spoken American netted 40 points, added 12 rebounds, in addition to making key passes to assist his fellow players.
Thomas keeps a calm head during matches, focuses, works hard and thinks creatively. He is one of the real pillars for this REG team.
Delwan Graham
Newcomer Delwan Graham made a big introduction of himself to the BAL crowd in his very first game when REG was playing against Kwara Falcons of Nigeria. The American power forward was named the man of the match. He almost did everything on the court - defending, rebounding, dunking, as well as some good passing.
So far, he has 29 points to his name and 25 rebounds.
Jean-Jacques Wilson Nshobozwabyosenumukiza
Rwandan point guard Jean-Jacques Wilson Nshobozwabyosenumukiza, who was awarded the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Ubuntu trophy, has also been doing good work on the court.
The ferocious, hardworking 1.83 man continues to make good displays. So far, he has scored 36 points and added 22 rebounds.
Dieudonné Ndizeye
Rwandan forward Dieudonné Ndizeye is making his third appearance – out of three editions – and has also been doing great for REG, scoring 30 points and 6 rebounds, so far.
Meanwhile, REG will be back in action on Saturday, March 18, against Stade Malien.
They will play their last game against the defending champions US Monastir on March 20.
