GATSIBO – A 30-year-old man who allegedly hurled a grenade at his neigbour is presently detained at Kabarore Police Station. Police are yet to establish the cause of the attack.

Police said the suspect, Sam Makombe, attacked Madeline Mukabadege, last Friday, but fortunately the grenade failed to explode.

"His intention was to kill her but fortunately it did not go off. We are carrying out investigations to ascertain the motive of the incident,” a police official told The New Times.

Area residents said the suspect was linked to illegal possession of small arms said to be used in criminal activities in the region. "This man has not surprised us. We knew he was always involved in such crimes. He should face justice,” one of the residents said.
