Habiyambere eyes podium in Brazil

The national cycling team’s Nicodem Habiyambere has set his eyes on a podium finish in the Tour do Janerio that sets off on Wednesday.The team flies out to Brazil this morning and the 24 year-old; who is also captain of the team is optimistic of the team’s chances in their first South American race.

The national cycling team’s Nicodem Habiyambere has set his eyes on a podium finish in the Tour do Janerio that sets off on Wednesday.

The team flies out to Brazil this morning and the 24 year-old; who is also captain of the team is optimistic of the team’s chances in their first South American race.

"The team has been doing intensive training which I think will pay off. I think we can win some medals if we ride to our full potential,” the experienced rider, who Team Coach Jonathan Boyer has described as the team’s most in form rider said.

Rwanda’s hunt for medals will be spear headed by the experienced duo of Nicodem Habiyambere and his elder brother Nathan Byuskenge alongside Gasore Hategeka, Emmanuel Rudahunga, Obed Ruvogera, Jean de dieu Rafiki.

Over 150 cyclists are expected to grace the 783km race which is registered on the UCI (International Cycling Union) calendar. The five-stage race will run from July 27-31 in the Brazilian captain of Roi de Janerio.
