Editor,

I wish to express my support to  the call for the performance contracts (Imihigo) to focus on activities that will have direct impact on citizens’ wellbeing.

The performance contracts is yet another unique way in which the government has tapped into the Rwandan rich culture with the aim of facilitating the country’s set development agenda.

Personally, I believe that performance contracts are very crucial given the fact that it is the best way to assess our leaders and see whether they are performing to the expectations of the electorate.

It’s therefore time for all of us to give full support to our leaders, so that they are able to achieve what they are required of.

In some districts, leaders have set targets that will help achieve up to 100 percent health insurance subscription for their residents and the 9-year basic education. This move is laudable and these achievements must be consolidated.

The performance contracts have championed several changes within the socio-economic spheres of our country. It should not be left in the hands of government officials, but rather be embraced by all Rwandans.
