Vaceslav gets trio boost

THREE US-based players jetted in yesterday to join the provisional men’s basketball team ahead of next month’s 26th FIBA Africa Championship (Afrobasket tournament) in Madagascar.Jonathan Gasirabo, Kenneth Gasana and Daniel Rugamba arrived yesterday and will start training this afternoon.

THREE US-based players jetted in yesterday to join the provisional men’s basketball team ahead of next month’s 26th FIBA Africa Championship (Afrobasket tournament) in Madagascar.

Jonathan Gasirabo, Kenneth Gasana and Daniel Rugamba arrived yesterday and will start training this afternoon.

The trio joins Bradley Cameron (USA), Robert Thomson (Romania) and Gael Somayire Kanyabugoyi (USA) while Hamza Ruhezamihigo (Canada), Cedric Isom (Angola) and DRC based Kimbuy Manga will join the group next week.

Miller Matthew (USA) will link up with the team during their two-week training stint in Paris, France.

The tournament runs from August 17-28 and will also attract defending champions Angola, Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Togo, Senegal, Mali, Morocco, Central African Republic, Chad, Mozambique, Ivory Coast, Egypt and South Africa.

From Madagascar, the team will head to Mozambique for the All Africa Games slated for September 3-18.
