Rwanda gets CAVB invite

RWANDA have been invited to compete in this year’s CAVB Africa Women Nations Cup from August 15 -25 in Nairobi, Kenya. The Director of Sports in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Gaspard Kayijuka yesterday confirmed that the ministry would fund the team.

RWANDA have been invited to compete in this year’s CAVB Africa Women Nations Cup from August 15 -25 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Director of Sports in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Gaspard Kayijuka yesterday confirmed that the ministry would fund the team.

Kenya will host the tournament whose winner will automatically qualify for next year’s FIVB Women World Cup in Japan.

The event is expected to attract the crème de la crème of African volleyball led by host Kenya and the likes of Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon, Tunisia, Botswana, Senegal, DRC, and Seychelles, among others.

Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania are also likely to attend.

The tournament will also be used as a build up for the All Africa Games to be held in September in Maputo, Mozambique.
