Cabinet approves RDF promotions

A cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame, yesterday, approved the promotion of 13 officers of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel. The promoted officers include the Defence and Military Spokesperson Joseph Nzabamwita, and the Director of Kanombe Military Hospital Dr Ben Karenzi.

A cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame, yesterday, approved the promotion of 13 officers of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel.

The promoted officers include the Defence and Military Spokesperson Joseph Nzabamwita, and the Director of Kanombe Military Hospital Dr Ben Karenzi.

Others are Geoffrey Kabagambe, Tom Mpaka, Dr Eugene Twagirumukiza, Charles Rudakubana, Sam Baguma, Paul Nyemazi, Alex Kayumba Ngoga, Ludovick Mugisha, David Bukenya and Mathias Murengerantwari.

The cabinet also promoted 20 RDF officers to lieutenant colonel, 84 to major, 13 to the rank of Captain, 20 to lieutenant and 11 to second lieutenant.

Among other major appointments, John Rutayisire who was heading the Rwanda National Examination Council (RNEC) is now the head of the newly created Rwanda Education Board (REB).

Dr Joyce Musabe becomes the head of Curriculum Development at REB while Damien Ntaganzwa heads the department of teachers’ training and capacity building. Janvier Gasana is charged with the department overseeing the quality of education.

Evode Mukama was appointed the head of the department of ICT in education while Emmanuel Muvunyi was appointed the head of accreditation of Higher Institutions of learning and universities.

Fred Mugisha takes over at the department of students financing and loans, replacing Emma Furaha Rubagumya, formerly the SFAR boss, who was transferred to Rukara Teachers College, as the Director of Studies.

Rukara Teachers College which is under the Rwandan Teachers College will be headed by Charles Gahima who headed the Curriculum Development.

In other appointments, Eng. Diogene Mulindahabi was appointed the head of the Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre / IPRC, replacing Eng. Joseph Mfinanga, who was appointed the deputy.
