NYANZA are determined to stay in the top flight division after recruiting former Amagaju coach Abdul Mbarushimana and giving him the biggest pay check in the club’s history.

Mbarushimana has signed a two-year-deal worth Rwf12m while also pocketing a signing on fee of Rwf1.5m.

Nyanza Mayor Murenzi Abdullah told Times Sport that Mbarushimana’s immediate task is to help the Southern Province side finish inside the top eight.

"We want this club to not only stay in the top flight but to challenge for silverware in the next few years,” the mayor said, before adding, "That is why we gave the new coach an attractive package and we intend to do the same for the players.”

Murenzi also revealed that the club administration has tripled their annual budget to cope with the financial demands of the top flight league.

"We have been using Rwf10m in the second division but the club has increased that budget to Rwf45m.”

Mbarushimana echoed his boss’s comments saying that the club is looking to bring in ten new players.

Nyanza joined the Primus league after defeating Esperance in the second division playoffs last month. The club last played in the top flight eleven years ago.
