Miami born, Jamaican-American  artiste Sean Kingston, who was scheduled to headline at the grand final of Primus Guma Guma Superstar on July 30, has postponed his show to Sept 17.

According to the Primus Guma Guma Superstar organisers, Kingston’s management requested to postpone his engagement in Rwanda following his recent accident and injury, in order to fully recover.

"It is unfortunate that we had to postpone the concert due to Sean Kingston’s accident and injury. The most important thing is that he will perform in Rwanda and invite the Primus Guma Guma Superstar to his studio in Miami to record a song together,” Alexander Koch, Bralirwa’s Commercial Director said.

He added: "I am impressed and proud to see how our 10 contestants have grown as artistes and performed during the Primus Guma Guma Superstar 2011. It does confirm there is a lot of talent here in Rwanda.”

Meanwhile, Sean’s management have assured their Rwandan partners that they would adhere to the agreement.

"Due to Sean Kingston’s recent accident he will not be able to perform on July 30 in Rwanda. Thank you for the new available date of September 17,” Ari Bernstein from International Creative Management (ICM) said.

"After many doctor’s visits Sean has received his doctor’s approval to travel to Africa for the September engagements. I am happy to confirm the date change from July 30 to September 17,” he added.

During a press conference held in Kigali on July 18, the organisers confirmed that the final show to announce the winner of Primus Guma Guma Superstar 2011 would still take place on July 30, at the parking yard of Amahoro stadium.

The event would be broadcast live on RTV and all 10 contestants will perform alongside the four finalists. After his nomination, the winner will then travel to the USA in August, where he will meet Sean Kingston, and record a single and shoot the video clip with him.

On September 17, the Jamaican star famous for hits like "Beautiful Girls” and "Take You There” will also perform with the Primus Guma Guma Superstar 2011 in a live and exclusive performance.

Aline Asselot, Bralirwa’s Marketing Manager, also noted that:  "Our first target is to make sure that Primus Guma Guma Superstar winner gets the best exposure on the national and international music scene. We are looking forward to the next step of the competition.”

With the objective to improve music in Rwanda and encourage music talents; Primus in collaboration with East African Promoters (EAP) are doing their best to offer the best of Rwandan musicians to their fans.

The 21-year-old talented rapper has all the music vibe in his blood. Born in February 3, 1990 in Kingston, Jamaica, Sean Kingston inherited the endowment from his grandfather Jack Ruby who was a music producer.

Joseph Mushyoma, the CEO of East African Promoters said the competition is going on well apart from Sean Kingston’s accident.

But we are happy to hear he is making a full recovery.
