Editor,

The move by employees of the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) to donate blood as part of the celebrations to mark the 10th Taxpayers Day is a noble initiative which should be emulated by all Rwandans.

Blood saves life and I wish to appeal to all Rwandans to participate in blood donation exercises. I was recently admitted in hospital and my life was in danger and I urgently needed blood. Luckily, I received blood from a good friend.

What I have realised is that most people have no idea about the importance of blood donation. It is therefore important that officials from the Ministry of Heath sensitise Rwandans about the importance of blood donation.

The ministry should use to the mass media to pass on relevant information to the public regarding blood donation. The ministry officials should also visit schools regularly to carry out this important campaign.
