The newly appointed Cabinet ministers will take the oath of office today at the Parliamentary Buildings, Kimihurura, Director of Cabinet in the Office of the President Gen. Frank Mugambage, has said.

President Paul Kagame last Friday brought into his now 28-member cabinet five new ministers in a reshuffle that saw seven ministers dropped.

President Kagame will preside over the swearing-in ceremony which begins at 3:30pm, according to Mugambage.

New faces in the new-look cabinet include Louise Mushikiwabo, who replaced Prof. Laurent Nkusi as the Minister of Information in the Office of the Prime Minister;
and Monique Mukaruliza, who will also be sworn in as the minister for the newly established position of the East African Community.

Others are the immediate former Governor of Eastern Province, Theoneste Mutsindashyaka, who became the State Minister for Primary and Secondary Education replacing Joseph Murekeraho who was also dropped, as well as Linda Bihire and Agnes Kalibata, who became ministers for Infrastructure, and State Minister for Agriculture respectively.

Bihire succeeded Ambassador Stanslas Kamanzi, who was reshuffled to become the Minister for Lands, Environment, Water, Mines and Forestry, while Kalibata replaced Daphrosa Gahakwa, who became Education minister.

Today’s ceremony will also be attended by among others Chief Justice Aloysia Cyanzaire, Senate president Dr Vincent Biruta, Speaker Alfred Mukezamfura, Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, senators and deputies.
