APR made their intentions clear as far as recapturing the national men’s basketball league title is concerned after thrashing reigning champions KBC on Saturday.

The indomitable lions were five points short of 100points as they smacked KBC 95-74 at a fairly packed Amahoro Indoor Stadium.

Patrick Buzangu proved why he is such an important player to APR after top scoring with 20 points.

"The boys played well and deserved to win. I think we showed that we are still the best team in the country,” APR’s coach Cliff Owuor said.

Oliver Kanamugire scored a game high 26points but that could not deter the army side from winning the contest.

APR then went a notch better yesterday after thumping CSK 101-59 to finish the first round with a 100 per cent record.
