The national cricket team manager Benjamin Manzi has lashed out at cricketers who have persistently failed to turn up for training ahead of next month’s ICC World Cricket League/ ICC World Cup Qualifiers.

Manzi insisted that training sessions will be one of the selection criterion for the national side that will take part in the South Africa event.

"The selectors will have no kind words for cricketers who miss training so I’m appealing to all those players who are part of the provisional squad to take training sessions serious,” he emphasized.

Rwanda, chasing for a third consecutive appearance at the biannual tournament, will field a 16-man squad including 14 players and two officials.

Besides Rwanda; Morocco, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland and Gambia are the other countries lined up for the qualifiers that will run from April 13-18 in Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, Right Guards landed a consolation win in the RCA league after Sunday’s nine-wicket victory over Indorwa.

Chasing a paltry target of just 52 runs, Emma Byiringiro led Guards’ assault with a quick fire 21 runs to seal victory after in the sixth over.
Although the win was worthless, Guards believe that it will be instrumental in future tournaments.

"It was a good victory and we hope to carry on with this kind of performance in future tournaments,” stated an overjoyed Byiringiro.
