Friendship was once described by a famous Greek philosopher Aristotle as a "single soul, dwelling in two bodies”.

In other words it‘s an in-depth relationship combining trust, support, communication, loyalty, understanding, empathy, and intimacy. These are certainly aspects of life that all of us crave for.

Since friendship starts the moment a child starts socializing, the kind of friends that he or she chooses should be taken care of till the child learns to differentiate between right and wrong.

Friendship is a feeling of comfort and emotional safety with a person. It is when you do not have to weigh your thoughts and measure words, before keeping it forth before your friend.

According to 23-year-old Hellen Mizero, a student at the School of Finance and Banking, friendship is when someone knows you better than yourself and assures to be at your side in every emotional crisis.

"Wrong peers can lead to severe psychological traumas and disorders. It’s very essential to develop friendship with the right people,” says Mizero.

Mizero adds that the correct peer group is essential for the development of the personality of the individual.

Different people have different definitions of friendship, for some it is the trust in an individual that he or she won't hurt you. For others, it is unconditional love.

There are some people who believe that friendship is companionship they form definitions based on the kind of experiences they have had.

Alex Kalenzi a student at the Kicukiro Technical College says that friendship cannot survive if one person makes all the effort to sustain it without any mutual recognition from others.

"Although social networking sites such twitter, Facebook, My space among others connect people, for us as users we should be in position to know the true friends,” Kalenzi explains.

He adds that friendship is much beyond roaming together and sharing good moments, it’s when someone comes to rescue you from the worst phase of life.

Finally they say a person who has found a faithful friend has found a priceless treasure. To experience is friendship, one must have true friends, who are indeed rare treasures.
