Editor,

As Rwanda continues to register progress on many fronts, I cannot express how anxious I am to see our country achieve the methane gas extraction dream.

The news that the equipment or the floating barge will be installed next week is a huge step towards achieving our long awaited dream. It has been tested already; we have seen power generated from the gas in L. Kivu.

However, we cannot wait to see a fully pledged extraction process take root. We are going to be the first country in the world to extract this natural resource on a large scale. This is a gift God gave us in abundance. Therefore, we should exploit it.

Rwanda’s ambition to extract the gas will help increase the much needed electricity to boost our development. Credit goes to our government for this initiative and donors who have agreed to fund the project.
