KAMONYI - Muslims in Kavumu zone, Kamonyi District, Wednesday, received 15 heifers donated by Qatar philanthropist, Abdoul Rahman Abdoul Jalil.

The cattle, worth over Rwf3m were handed over by the Mufti of Rwanda Sheikh Abdoul Karim Gahutu and a delegation from Qatar.

The Mufti said the donation would improve the beneficiaries’ standards of living and serves as a good example of rituals in the Islamic faith.

"The donation is a good act of faith and Rwandan counterparts should learn from this example and support their needy brethren,” Gahutu said.

The beneficiaries will, in future, pass on the off-spring to others when the cows produce.

One of the beneficiaries, Jalia Uwimana, said the donation was timely and would improve her family’s welfare.

"I am pleased and my faith strengthens to see other Muslims accomplish the will of God.”

The head of the Qatari delegation, Hamed Abdoul Khadir, noted that the donation was a sign of the growing relationship between Muslims in both countries.

He added that more projects will be financed in the future as way of empowering Rwandan Muslims.
