JEAN Baptiste Hakizimana and Emmanuel Ruterana have started preps for the KCB tour-Mombasa leg scheduled to run from August 10-13th.

The pair has had a turbulent year after yet again failing to convince in last week’s KCB Kampala leg were Hakizimana finished 11th after carding 293 over four rounds. Ruterana fired 17 over-par to finish a distant 18th.

Hakizimana told this paper yesterday that they have started early preparations to avoid last year’s scenario where they failed to make the cut.

"We have not performed at the level that we want this year and that is why we have opted for early training,” he said.

The pair will also take part in the Sadi Onito memorial tourney in Jinja-Uganda early next month in preparation for the KCB tourney.

Onito was a twelve-time Uganda Open champion who died in 2004. This will be the fourth edition of the two- day tourney which has prize money close to Rwf 2m.

Meanwhile, the pair will be boosted by sponsorship from Serena Hotel for the KCB Mombasa leg.

The five-star Hotel also gave the duo a one-year subscription at the hotel’s fitness gym.
