RAYON Sport is on the verge of signing three Burundian players, Times Sport has learnt. Hussein Mbanza, Seleman Ndikumana and Pappy Fatty have been on top of Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s wish list since last month and the former APR and Atraco coach yesterday confirmed that the club had made good progress.

"We are on the right track. Hussein is in the country and if things go as expected, we expect him to sign before the end of tomorrow (today),”

"The other two will also sign before the end of this week,” the 38-year-old added.

Rayon is also chasing for former striker Bokota Labama who now plies his trade with DRC’s Motema Pembe and Ntagwabira confirmed that the club has started talks with the veteran striker.

Meanwhile, after tying up Abouba Sibomana and Burundi International Karim Mckenzie, Sina Jerome, Bonfils Twahirwa and Junior Wasps’ defender Faustin Usengimana have also extended their contracts at the club.

Early this month, Ntagwabira threatened not to sign a new contract until he got transfer funds. Last season, the blues endured their worst season in 14 years after finishing 6th and Ntagwabira, whose contract expired last month, argues that the only way the club can challenge the likes of APR, Kiyovu and Police is if they sign new players.

"I want things to be done now because if you delay and miss out, you end up going for your second or third option,” he was quoted as saying.

"That is no way to build a team that can challenge for the Primus League title,” Ntagwabira stressed.

Ntagwabira is regarded as one of the best coaches in the country after winning seven trophies with APR (three league trophies, three Amahoro Cup titles and a Cecafa Cup trophy) and a league title with Atraco.
