As club switches focus to Kigali 7s

BUFFALOES Coach Gerald Nsenga has paid glowing tribute to his team after lifting a fifth successive league title with still one game to play.

The Remera based side was crowned league champions on Saturday after a 48-10 victory over NUR Grizzles. Although they were clear favorites right from pre-season, Nsenga hailed the players for not being complacent.

"This is probably the best season the team has had in years. Only Grizzlies managed to put two tries past us and they are the only team that stopped us from scoring in excess of 50 points so congs to them,” Nsenga noted.

"This is a major milestone for the players. Winning five league titles in a row is magnificent.”

Lion de Fer, Sharks, Gorillas, Tumba College, Puma and ISAE Busogo are the other teams that contested for the league title.

The league was one-legged due to financial constraints in the local rugby federation.

Meanwhile the champions have now turned focus to the Kigali 7s slated for Saturday at Red Cross grounds.
