AFTER sealing their promotion into the Primus League, Nyanza put the icing on the cake by clinching the second division league title courtesy of a solid 2-0 victory over Espoir.

Hamadi Uwimana set them on their way, leaping clear of the Espoir defence to score. Thierry Mbarushimana doubled the lead after the break.

Espoir showed passion and commitment in the second half but Nyanza held on to cap what has been a wonderful season for the Southern Province side.

The result ends Nyanza’s 11-year wait.  The Mayor of Nyanza Abdulla Murenzi has promised to splash money in the team as they look to bolster the squad ahead of the coming season.

Nyanza and Espoir replace Musanze and Muhanga who were relegated.
