Rwandans and friends of Rwanda living in France gathered yesterday in Paris to celebrate Rwanda’s 17th anniversary of the Liberation Day.

Representatives from the French government, ambassadors and diplomats accredited to France attended the function.

Addressing the guests, Ambassador Jacques Kabale, elaborated the symbolism of the Liberation Day, its historical perspective and the progress registered after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

"With zero tolerance to corruption, our country is among the 10 best governed nations and currently a favorable investment destination,” the Ambassador said.

The envoy also talked about Rwanda’s remarkable progress that justify today's place and role of Rwanda in global governance, the role of the Diaspora in the development of Rwanda, status and prospect of cooperation between the France and Rwanda.

He added; "The recent remarkable advances by our country are without doubt the result of the good governance.”

The function was celebrated with traditional dances and testimonies reflecting the progress of the nation.
