Ulinzi vs APR (Jamhuri stadium) 3pm

APR’s target of retaining their Cecafa crown will be over if they lose to Kenya’s Ulinzi this afternoon at Jamhuri stadium in the final Group stage match.
Such is the predicament that the champions find themselves in, despite a wonderful local campaign where they only lost one league match after sealing a 12th league title and 10th peace cup trophy.
The military side is currently third in Group C after losing 1-3 to Ethiopian champions St.George on Thursday. Ulinzi top the Group with 4 points after demolishing Ports of Djibouti 9-0, while St.George is second with 4 points. (Ulinzi has a better goal difference.). APR is third with 3 points.
With St.George favourities to beat Ports, and Ulinzi having a better goal difference, not even a draw will save APR from elimination.
APR have never won the Cecafa trophy on foreign soil and will be keen to break the jinx. The Primus league champions always come short during continental and regional competitions.
With all the resources that the club possesses, they have only won the Cecafa trophy 3 times and have never reached the Group stages of the Caf champions’ league.
Meanwhile Etincelles is expected in the country on Monday after being eliminated from the competition. The western province club lost all their group games, conceding over 10 goals.
