GISOZI-Employees from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs (MIDMAR) yesterday visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre Gisozi to remember those killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The delegation led by the minister, Gen.Marcel Gatsinzi, was briefed on the history of centre and how the Genocide was prepared before its commencement in 1994.

Addressing the media after the visit, Gatsinzi said that it was significant for the ministry’s staff to visit and remember those who perished in the Genocide.

"What we need is to sensitise our children on how the Genocide happened and ensure that it doesn’t occur again in our country,” he said.

The centre contains 19 mass graves and is home to the remains of over 250,000 people killed around Kigali City.
