NYANZA and Espoir will play in the Primus National Football League (PNFL) next season after winning their playoff ties against Esperance and SEC respectively.

Nyanza, which last played in the top flight division 11 years ago, won 4-2 on penalties after winning the return leg 1-0. Esperance had won the first leg 1-0.

At Kicukiro, Espoir defeated SEC Academy 1-0, yesterday, to progress on goal aggregates (1-0). The first leg had ended in a goalless draw in Rusizi.

SEC Academy coach Andre Gasambongo blamed the defeat on a depleted squad since six of his first team players are still away with the U-17 national team which jets back before the end of the week from Mexico – the venue for the Fifa U-17 World Cup.

The players in question include Ibrahim Itangishaka, Eric Nsabimana, Eugene Habyarimana, Steven Ntaribi, Hertien Turatsinze and Shadadi Nsengayire.

Nyanza and Sepoir replace Musanze and Muhanga who were relegated.
