Urwego Opportunity Bank inaugurates Musanze Branch

MUSANZE-Urwego Opportunity Bank-UOB has opened a new branch in Musanze District to cater for clients from districts in the Northern Province. Speaking during inauguration ceremony, the CEO of Urwego Opportunity Banks, Geofrey Lee, said that the rationale was to extend services nearer to the people and help alleviate poverty among the local population by funding and developing sustainable projects.

MUSANZE-Urwego Opportunity Bank-UOB has opened a new branch in Musanze District to cater for clients from districts in the Northern Province.

Speaking during inauguration ceremony, the CEO of Urwego Opportunity Banks, Geofrey Lee, said that the rationale was to extend services nearer to the people and help alleviate poverty among the local population by funding and developing sustainable projects.

’UOB is a Christ centered and client focused bank, we want to help the rural people access loans,’’ Lee said.

He said that UOB will introduce an education fund which will offer loans to students, after having introduced a health micro-insurance scheme.

UOB, introduced an agriculture loan, with over Rwf41m advanced to Irish potato growers cooperative COABIKI in Kinigi who repay after every harvest. 

 In his remarks, the Governor of Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe challenged the local residents to work hard and engage in business.

The branch is the eighth, in addition to the mobile banking unit.

The function was graced by board members including Bishop John Rucyahana and Phil Smith, the Country Director of World Relief.
