‘Primus Guma Guma Superstar’ is an event which is organised by East African Promoters, with the sponsorship of Bralirwa. It started at the beginning of the year, by entertainment journalists voting for their best ten artists in Rwanda, who would compete for the honour.

It started at the beginning of the year, by entertainment journalists voting for their best ten artists in Rwanda, who would compete for the honour.
Ten artists, including two groups; Dr Claude, Dream Boys, Rafiki, Riderman, Jay Polly, Kitoko, Urban Boys, Tom Close, King James and Mann Martin. Kitoko was later dropped, and was replaced by Faisal.
The winner will walk home with an Rwf 6 million cash prize, in addition to flying to the US to record a song with International artist, Sean Kingston.
The Sunday Times talked to some of the aspiring superstars, about what they will do with the money in case they win.
Faisal: "I think I will give Rwf1 million to God (Rwf500, 000 will go to several gospel outreach and charity ministries, and Rwf500, 000 to churches). I will also throw a big party of Rwf1 or 1.5 millions for my fans, journalists and fellow artists. I may use the rest to buy something, like a piece of land, for my family.”
Urban Boys (Nizzo): "Each one of the Urban Boys has their plan, but, I will save my share as I plan what to do with it.”
Jay Polly: "I will reinvest it in music. We, Rwandan artists, often request for sponsorships to do activities like album launches, recordings... But, Rwf6 million might be a good start for me, my Tuff Gang crew and other young rappers to be self sustaining in music.”
Rafiki: "I will use 80 percent to develop a studio for recording live music, and to help needy artists to record their songs. I will spend the rest on daily activities, like airtime.”
Dr Claude: "I plan to give Rwf1 million to God, through works of charity and offerings. Rwf5 million will be used to develop my career and support other artists.”
Dream Boys: "We will use some of it to do international collabos, shoot better music videos, help the needy and have some fun.”
Tom Close: "I add it to my investments and develop a recording studio or a productions firm, to promote music.”
