NGORORERO- Travellers and tourists will no longer have to agonise about where to relax in the district once the area’s pioneer recreation centre is complete.

The modern recreation centre, worth over Rwf 335 million will feature lodging facilities, recreation parlours, bar and restaurant and a multipurpose hall.

"The centre will address a major problem of lack of district facilities to host meetings, and accommodation for tourists in the area. This has been a concern for the district and we are hopeful that it will be a developmental aspect in the area,” says Delphine Muhawenimana, a district official in charge of infrastructure.

The centre is also expected to spur the district’s development through revenue generation.

I was funded by the Community Development Fund (CDF) and will be in two phases. The first phase will cost over Rwf 215 million while the second will take over Rwf 119 million.

Residents are hopeful that the centre will offer many jobs and partly address the problem of unemployment among educated youth.

"The centre will not only change the image of the district, but we are also excited about getting jobs once the centre starts operating. Farmers produce will also get a market in due course,” said one resident, Frodouard Ndihokubwimana.
