As Tusker All Stars set for grand reunion

EAST African Breweries flagship brand Tusker is set to launch its new look bottle.  During the event, there will be a music extravaganza, a reality TV music show and a mega concert dubbed Tusker All Stars.

Winnie Onyach, the Account Manager Ogilvy Public Relations, told The New Times that Tusker All Stars is a music reality TV show that will feature eight former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) contestants competing for the opportunity to perform with international music icons Usher Raymond and Keri Hilson, at the Tusker All Stars concert to be held at the Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya on August 20.

"Viewers in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda will vote for their favourite stars and only the top three will perform at the concert,” Onyach noted.

The eight contestants shortlisted to be part of Tusker are: TFP3 winner Alpha Rwirangira from Rwanda, Kenya’s Bernard Nganga, alias ‘Ngangalito’ and Patricia Kihoro.

Others are TPF2’s Hemedy Suleiman from Tanzania, his fellow country man Peter Msechu and TPF4 winner Davis Ntare. TPF4’s Amileena Mwenesi and Uganda’s Caroline Nabulime are the two other stars joining the Tusker All Stars.

"It’s an honour for me to participate in the Tusker All Stars because it will provide me with an opportunity to publicise my music in the region. It is also a platform to improve my music career,” Alpha said.

He added: "we are eight artistes from four countries and we are all competing for the chance to perform with music icons Usher and Keri. I welcome the support from all my fans across East Africa and in Rwanda because I am presenting my country.”

The show is set to debut on June 26, while the grand finale will be staged on August 14. Running for eight weeks, the Tusker All Stars TV show will showcase the stars at their very best, performing as individuals and as groups.

Unlike Tusker Project Fame where the primary focus is on singing ability, Tusker All Stars TV show will not only seek to bring out the whole entertainment package but also serve to show East Africa how their favourite stars have grown to be great entertainers and the next generation of East African super stars.

The audience will be able to follow the show every Sunday on Citizen TV (Kenya), UBC TV (Uganda) and TBC TV (Tanzania) from 7.30 pm from June 26 to August14. The show will air every Monday from 7.30 pm on RTV (Rwanda).

Debra Mallowah, the EABL Group Marketing Director said: "Music continues to be a platform through which Tusker engages and connects with its consumers as the brand seeks to leave a lasting legacy on Africa’s music scene. Music has the power to bring people together, which is evidenced every year by the millions of fans who watch Tusker Project Fame.”

She added: "music has always been a part of the Tusker heritage and with Tusker All Stars, we’re moving to a whole new level of consumer engagement. It’s one of the ways we are showing appreciation to loyal Tusker consumers.”

East African Breweries Limited unveiled a new-look Tusker Lager bottle in April following an elaborate investment amounting to Ksh. 1 billion to revamp the consumer appeal for its flagship brand.
