Ex-German President tours One Stop Centre

KIGALI - The former German president, Dr Horst Köhler, visited the One Stop Centre, a project under the management of the City of Kigali charged with issuing construction permits in the city.In an interview with The New Times yesterday, Bruno Rangira, the Director of Communication at the city, said that Köhler’s visit aimed at examining the city master plan, particularly Nyarugenge’s  Central Business District (CBD).

KIGALI - The former German president, Dr Horst Köhler, visited the One Stop Centre, a project under the management of the City of Kigali charged with issuing construction permits in the city.

In an interview with The New Times yesterday, Bruno Rangira, the Director of Communication at the city, said that Köhler’s visit aimed at examining the city master plan, particularly Nyarugenge’s  Central Business District (CBD).

"While at the centre, Mr. Köhler was taken through all the processes concerning the planning of the city, especially issues regarding the city master plan rules and regulation,” Rangira said.

He noted that the former President also held discussions with the city Mayor, Fidele Ndayisaba, together with other top city officials with whom they discussed the implementation of the master plan.

"After touring the master plan, Köhler was impressed by the tremendous development registered by the city management” Rangira added.

He was also briefed about the new transport master plan that envisages introducing bigger buses to reduce traffic congestion within the metropolis.
