KARONGI-  MTN, on Thursday, donated an assortment of household items to patients at Rubengera Health Centre in Karongi District.

According to Alain Numa, the Sponsorship and Events Coordinator at MTN, the contribution is part of their commitment to reward and support their customers.

"Apart from providing the main service of communication, we also wish to support our esteemed clients. This is an annual arrangement to give back to the public,” Numa said.

The items includes soap, plates, basins, blankets and a collection of other household items.

Leocardie Mukantwari, the head nurse, noted that the donation will significantly help improve the socio-economic welfare of the patients.

"These items will help to improve both the personal and environmental hygiene of the centre,” Mukantwari said.

Speaking to The New Times, a patient caretaker identified as Felix Muhawenimana said; "Sometimes it’s so difficult to get a few coins to buy soap. This donation comes as a relief to most of us,” said Muhawenimana, whose young brother has been hospitalised at the facility for the last six months.
