GASABO - Police have arrested 18 students from APRED Ndera Secondary School suspected of forging bank slips.

According to Police Spokesman, Theos Badege, the students were arrested on Wednesday after claiming they had cleared their school fees.

"So far we have realised that the forgery started in January and the estimated money lost is about Rwf 3.7million,” said Badege.

He however added that the exact amount lost will be determined through an audit that is yet to be carried out.

"The students used false bank slips they bought from criminals to claim that they cleared school fees yet they did not. A bank slip of Rwf100,000 is sold at Rwf 60,000,” said the Police Spokesman.

He, however, added that the police are still tracking down the mastermind of the forgery.
