Editor,

In this International Year of Forests, Rwanda Development Board’s conservation conference is, indeed a brilliant initiative.

The theme, ‘Forest stewardship  by community, contributions, benefits and prospects,’ that is quite fitting, encompasses the key factors essential in preserving what Mother Nature has so graciously endowed Rwanda with.

It would also not have come at a more opportune time as the country embarks on the annual Kwita Izina ceremony, which has so far registered monumental success in the conservation and awareness creation for the threatened mountain gorillas.

I wish John Gara, CEO, Clare Akamanzi, COO, Rica Rwagamba, Head, Tourism and Conservation along with the entire team at  RDB every success in this important conference and in the launching of development projects among communities surrounding the Volcanoes National Parks.
