GENEVA-The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Samuel Mulindwa, has said that the government has put in place an inclusive social security policy to address all aspects of social protection.

He was addressing the 100th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mulindwa shared with participants Rwanda’s initiatives and achievements in promoting a decent work environment.

"The Government has put in place measures to ensure social protection for domestic workers through community health insurance schemes, elimination of all forms of child labour and forced labour within households, through legal and policy actions,” he said.

Mulindwa explained that the policy is in line with the goals of Rwanda’s Vision 2020, the EDPRS and the National Employment Policy, all aimed at poverty reduction and social protection for all.

The P.S. added that the government was committed to extending social security coverage for Rwandan employees, both in the private and public sectors.

The conference brought together more than 5,000 delegates from 183 member states of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
