Mass wedding attracts over 100 couples

KARONGI- A total of 103 couples in Rubengera Sector, Karongi District exchanged marriage vows during a mass wedding held over the weekend.The ceremony was attended by hundreds of relatives and friends of the couples.

KARONGI- A total of 103 couples in Rubengera Sector, Karongi District exchanged marriage vows during a mass wedding held over the weekend.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds of relatives and friends of the couples.

Presiding over the function, the Sector Executive Secretary, Emile Rukesha urged the couples to remain faithful to each other.

"Endeavour to be faithful and work hard in order to avoid sinking into poverty. Consider family planning as a priority and you should have mutual trust between each other,” Rukesha said amid a hearty applause.

He urged the couples to educate their children, saying it is the only foundation to guarantee a brighter future. Claudine Ishimwe, one of the newly married brides, lauded local residents for their support.

"It’s not been an easy moment to make the decision of living as husband and wife,” she said.
