On February 25, Anthony Moses Ehlers, one of the youngest music producers of Rwanda, dropped his debut EP ‘Ehl3rs the Illest’, which is currently among the most trending on different streaming platforms today.

The 20-year-old producer who is a member of the Loud Sound Music, a label made of most youngsters in Rwanda’s music industry, has over the last years produced bangers and it's through him that the drill genre gained recognition and widespread popularity in the local music scene.

The EP, according to Ehlers, Is the genesis of his music career, given how it blends different genres of music and brings together most capable artistes that he describes as ‘the future of Rwandan music’.

"This EP symbolizes me, it breaks down who I am as a music producer,” the first rising producer told The New Times after releasing the nine track EP.

Premiered on February 25, ‘Ehl3rs The Illest’ features young talents such as Nillan, Kenny Kshot, Og2tone, Bobby Bangs among others, and is Ehlers’ first solo project ever since he ventured in the business of music production.

According to Ehlers, the whole EP consisted of 10 tracks until the first song premiered months before the EP was announced, making it a nine track project. Dubbed ‘WE Outside’, the single track featured Og2tone and was produced in the drill genre by Ehlers himself, it premiered last year.

Among the best stories Ehlers recalls while producing the EP, is when he was developing a beat live on Instagram and his longtime collaborator Maestroboomin joined the live and requested to freestyle on the beat.

"He later came to the studio and we made a song off that beat I was making on live. It’s called ‘Monster’, and it’s track two on my EP,” Ehlers narrates.

On the third track, Ehlers said that he produced the beat after listening to different UK freestyles which hyped him to make a beat that any good rapper can flow on.

"When Ririmba heard the beat, he agreed to record and we did it off the rip. He didn’t write much, it was freestyled just like I imagined making the beat. It was a banger,” the young producer said, explaining the making of track three of the EP that features Ririmba and Kenny Kshot.

Another song Ehlers recalls producing in a unique way is Urusaku which he produced when he got bored in the studio.

"I was tired of chilling in the studio and made a fire beat which resulted in ‘Sobermind’. It was crazy, Drey Chaos and Bobby Bangs all did their part on that song. It was almost like a freestyle but I changed it later on,” the producer added.

Other songs on the EP making waves include C&039;est la viee, IM SORRY, CH€€S€ among many others.
