POLICE are a game away from recording their first major silverware in Rwanda’s football history.

The law enforcers ran riot yesterday as they thrashed Mukura 6-1 to reach the Peace Cup final at Amahoro Stadium.

Police, who look recharged under their new Serbian coach Goran Kopunovic, put the tie beyond Mukura’s reach with six unanswered first-half goals.

Primus league top scorer Kagere Meddie returned from injury to net a hat trick while midfielders Leandre Sekamana, Gashugi Abdul Karim and Eric Ndahayo also got their names on the score sheet. Muvara Valens Fils then netted Mukura’s consolation on the 74th minute.

In the other semi-final match, APR thumped AS Kigali 4-0.
Striker Ernest Kwizera scored a brace while Haruna Niyonzima and Johnson Bagoole scored the other goals. The final is slated for Saturday.

Police know that besides ending their trophy jinx, victory in the final will also give them a ticket to play in the Orange Confederation Cup.
