Editor,

This letter is with reference to your lead story in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes entitled "Gov’t to support architects.”

I would like to applaud Minister of Infrastructure, Albert Nsengiyunva and Lillian Mupende, Kigali City’s Director of Urban planning for organising a symposium on sustainable urbanisation.

Architects hold the key to better infrastructural development and such a symposium and assurance of Government support would certainly go a long way to making Kigali a model city.

Wambete Soita, a professional architect and lecturer at the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) has stressed the need for international ideas.

Here, the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) would be happy to assist the Architects Association of Rwanda (AAR) should they decide to visit Mumbai for a study tour and for interaction with architects and builders in our city.
