Editor,

The United Nations has hailed Rwanda as one of the few countries that have successfully worked to reduce the HIV/AIDS scourge.

Rwanda is also one of the countries that have managed to achieve full access to treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS.

I would, therefore, like to commend our government for a job well done. However, we should not unwind. We should continue to utilise the few available resources to completely eradicate HIV/AIDS.

Recently, the Global Fund and UNAIDS mentioned Rwanda as one of the few countries to have fully utilised the funds provided to fight the scourge, while in some other countries such funds end up in the pockets of corrupt officials.

Such tribute from such an international organisation,  known for its strict accounting standards reflects the government’s value to its citizens.

Other campaigns to reduce the infection rates and prevent new infections have hugely paid off.

Bravo to the Government of Rwanda. Fellow Rwandans, as a wake up call, please remember that AIDS kills and is still with us.
