In a fast-paced society where technology evolves at an exponential rate, senior adults are often unaware of the existence of different kinds of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

In line with this year’s theme, ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality’, a group of senior women in Rwanda called ‘The Grandmas Club’ will be celebrating International Women’s Day by discussing means to bridge the technological divide between the young and the old.

The event, taking place March 8 from 10am to 2pm, at KLab, Kacyiru, will see young alumni of KLab and senior women citizens convene to share their experiences with technology and how it can improve their lives.

"We have a panel that will include both the young and old and with the audience we will be sharing our contribution as grandmothers to society but also be brought up to speed in terms of technology advancements and how they can benefit us as senior citizens. We want to bridge the digital gap between the young and the old so all women are encouraged to attend,” explained Eva Gara, the president of The Grandmas Club.

About The Grandmas Club

The club started with eight members that have since grown to over 30. Aged between 55 and 86, the group meets every week to share tips on nutritional and physical health.
