Football coach arrested for abusing school boys

RWAMAGANA-A children's football coach is in custody for allegedly sexually abusing young boys, police said yesterday.

Emmanuel Misembe, a resident of Kigabiro Sector in Rwamagana District, is accused of sexually molesting seven boys, all under 10 years of age.

According to Police, the suspect was arrested after the victims reported the incidents to their parents and school teachers.

"We have arrested him as we await further investigations,"
Superintendent Theos Badege, the Police spokesman said.

The matter came to light when one of the victims narrated the incident to his parents who them lodged a complaint to police.

"We immediately registered a case and all the boys were taken to Rwamagana Hospital for medical examination. The doctors have partially confirmed the claims," a police official said.

Meanwhile, many parents received the news with shock.

"I was shocked when my children narrated how the man molested them. I want to see justice done,” a mother to one of the victims said.

Pheneas Uyiringiye, the Headmaster of Le Pigeonier Primary School, where most of the victims study, condemned the crime against children.

"We put our efforts in protecting only the girls, forgetting the boys.The issue must have gone beyond what we imagine.

My investigations reveal that more children could have fallen prey,” he said.
