Editor,

Allow me, through your esteemed newspaper to express my concern and frustration with the customer care in many restaurants in our area.

I have visited several restaurants but waiters and waitresses at restaurants do not really care about their customers, yet we are the main reason why they are in business.

Restaurant owners and their staff should realise that without customers, they cannot survive in business hence the reason why they should treat us with respect.

I don’t remember a time I have been served satisfactorily. I am not going to name these restaurants but I am sure my fellow residents who have visited them have the same complaints.

If you are lucky, the waiters or waitresses will attend to you after hours. They look at you as if you are a street beggar. What the staff do is always to stick their noses in the air and turn their heads the other side, completely ignoring you.

Do the restaurant owners know this problem any way? Our country joined the East African Community and we must style up if we are to compete within the region and beyond.

Appreciating your customers and treating them with respect will go a long way in improving the general service delivery.
