Editor,

I add my voice to the United Nations for commending Rwanda’s peacekeeping mission in Darfur which in my view has been a successful intervention.

In Darfur, the RDF has exhibited a high level of commitment, discipline and many lives have been saved by our gallant soldiers.

Like the Deputy UN Secretary General Asha-Rose Migiro pointed out, the kind of professionalism Rwanda has exhibited in its peacekeeping mission in the war-torn Darfur region in Sudan is indeed unusual.

I urge other African peacekeepers to learn from Rwanda.

Let us also pay tribute to our brothers and sisters who have died in the course of duty at Darfur. This was not in vain. They lost lives so that Africans retain their dignity and live in peace.
