Editor,

Allow me to express my appreciation to the Government of DR Congo and the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda (ICTR) for apprehending one of the most wanted genocide suspects, Bernard Munyagishari on Wednesday.

Survivors can sigh with relief that finally one of their tormentors will have his day in court.

When the likes of Munyagishari did what they did, they never thought that at some point, they would be answerable for their murderous actions.

It is said that you can run but you cannot hide, some how justice catches up with you, no matter how long it takes.

The time that has passed does not take away the gravity of the crimes committed by Munyagishari and other genocide suspects still on the run. In my opinion, it is not too late and he will be answerable.

It is now time for the ICTR to carry out its mandate and genocide victims and survivors expect nothing but a fair ruling.
