THE long-awaited national volleyball league gets underway this afternoon.

In Group A, defending champions National University of Rwanda (NUR) battle it out with GSOB and CXR; Group B pits Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) against has College de Gisenyi and Kigali Institute of Education (KIE).

Group C has Nyanza, St Joseph and Kagarama while APR and UNATEK make up Group D.

After a preliminary round, the winner in Group A plays the winner in Group B and the same goes for Group C and D.

After being dethroned by NUR last year, APR has promised to come back stronger this year

"We want to play in next year’s CAVB Africa Club Championship and the only way to do that is by winning the league,” the APR coach Mulinge said.

The women league has eight teams. RRA, APR, Lycee de Nyanza, Ruhango, St Joseph Kabgayi, St Alloys and NUR.
